Setup Instructions

For best results, join the device to your system before installation.

Step 1:

Remove the top cover to reveal the battery compartment.

Step 2:

Set your panel into program mode or your ecosystem management application to accept new devices. Refer to your specific alarm panel or smart home application instruction manual for details on how to complete this step.

Step 3:

Once your system is ready to accept a new device, place the batteries into the sensor.

Step 4:

Press the learn button on the sensor for one (1) second. If the LED starts blinking continuously, the sensor failed to be added; repeat steps 2-4.

  • To ensure proper operation ensure the side of the device with the small holes is directly facing the sounder holes on the smoke detector.
  • The Fire Fighter™ must be mounted within 6 inches of the smoke/CO detector for optimal operation.
Step 1:

Secure the mounting bracket to the wall or ceiling using the two mounting screws and double sided tape provided.

Step 2:

Secure the audio detector to the mounting bracket using the small screw provided.

Remove the top cover to reveal the battery compartment.

Step 2:

A tamper alert will be sent to your system controller. Upon receipt of the alert by your system controller, you have verified proper RF performance of the sensor.

When testing audio detection, ensure the Fire Fighter™ cover is on and that you wear hearing protection.

Step 1:

Press and hold the smoke/CO detector test button. If you are using zone type 16 (Fire with Verification) you must press and hold the smoke detector button for at least 30 seconds to ensure that Fire Fighter™ has had sufficient time to identify the smoke alarm pattern and lock into alarm.

Step 2:

An audio trigger alert will be sent to your system controller.

  • Controller inclusion/exclusion mode must be activated BEFORE starting sensor inclusion or exclusion mode.
  • The sensor can only be included into one controller network at a time, and must be excluded from one network before inclusion in another.
Step 1:

Any sensor can be removed from any Z-Wave Plus controller. Follow the directions to put your Z-Wave Plus Controller into exclusion mode.

Step 2:

Open the sensor’s case and press the learn button for 1 second.

Step 3:

If the sensor was successfully removed from the Z-Wave Plus network, the LED will blink GREEN continuously (slowly).
